Curiosity Killed the Ditz: Trying to Hard

Why; the three little words that haunt my existence. From the moment I could speak I always wanted to know why. Now as an adult I am finding less and less people that want to answer my questions. I have been called nosy or weird, and angered many a person, with just those 3 letters. This is my story, quest you could call it, to try and find answers to my Whys.

Hello my friends. This is a very interesting why for me because it is something that I have been working on for years. Why do I try to hard? The initial answer, I didn't know I was.

Quite the Why. It seems the people pleaser in me likes to take control especially when I am nervous or around new people. I believe what they are meaning is that I am trying to hard to be what they want instead of being me. The funniest part, is when I am just me,  most people like it more than when I am trying to please them.

Maybe that is the real "why", why is it so hard to just be yourself? Fear of rejection? Possibly. When I play a character, if someone doesn't like it, they are rejecting the character and not me. I think that is a good part of it. The other part, it's fun to be someone else for a while. Try on a different persona, be something you're not. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails but it will always be interesting.

Oh, so much to ponder and I'm on vacation! Let's do a two parter shall we? Let me know your thoughts on "why it's so hard to be yourself?" Then, next week we can delve further into this craziness. In the meantime, I'm going to Harry Potter world at Universal. Ooooo who should I be today?

Keep questioning.

  1. I like the train of thought you are on with this. So far, I would say you're spot on.
People pleasing, fear of rejection, new persona are very good reasons. It could also be you try too hard to reach a lofty goal when it turns out easier to attain than originally thought.
A two parter will be good for this Why.
