Daredevil, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Americans & more! | #NOTwatching #47

by

With so many superhero shows doing the rounds, it was easy to be cynical about Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil, yet free of network constraints, Drew Goddard and Steven S. DeKnight have been able to deliver an uncompromisingly 'gritty' take on the blind vigilante's origin story. Both Cox and D'onofrio have been knocking it out of the park as Murdoch and Fisk, with solid support from the likes of Deborah Ann Woll & Rosario Dawson. At the very least, it's Rob's favourite show of the year so far... also #NOT on regular TV, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hits us like a rainbow coloured truck in the face and Community clings to life on Yahoo (just). Iain's taken Jon's advice and finally cracked into FX's The Americans and Rob totally binged through season 2 of Black Sails. Can he sell it to Iain though? That's the question. All this and more on another 'What's we haven't #NOT been watching' edition of the #NOTwatching Podcast!

Disclaimer: Jon was actually on this show, but his track screwed up so we've had to edit his bits out. This is really quite a bummer because he had some great things to say about Netflix's Bloodline. Hopefully we'll get round to that one again when the rest of us have seen it, until then, apologies for any dodgy edits that had to be made!

MTV Movie Awards 2015 Red Carpet | #Mashion & #Meauty

by
Celebs take #Selfies with Normals

The MTV Movie Awards were this week and that means Celebs graced a "red" carpet and showed off their styles.
*I quoted the "red" because it looks like it was actually a blue carpet, but saying "blue" carpet sounds like it's a bit porno*

Now we all get what #Mashion and #Meauty is by now!.......do we? I mean it's "this" guys look at the female fashion and beauty on show. The MTV events are usually more casual, more relaxed in the high fashion stakes. It looks like celebs feel more at ease at these shows and can rock up wearing something from Primark and pull it off as hip and cool. Many famous's like to rock up in clothes that they would wear to a Nandos. I like these events as the celebs wear clothes I recognise. They wear clothes I have seen on the hangers in shops I go to.

So...Let's see what the fuck these celebs wearing shall we?

NO IDEA WHO SHE IS: Some lady, look nice, looks comfortable(ish)! She looks like she is there, but her feet hurts a little bit with those heels and she could easily go back to the hotel room, paid for by MTV, and order  pizza and binge watch some episodes of "Scandal"

KELLY "O": Over the years I have grown to love Kellie Osbourne! People have said I look like her!...........So maybe I like her because I feel a connection to her? Anyway, I want to go and have a drink or ten with her, right now! Kellie! grab your coat and get the drinks in! Let's get "Ozzied"

THE FANTASTIC FOUR CAST: I won't discuss all their outfits because I can't be arsed, but I want to point out how cute Kate Mara looks here! White Dress and pale skin is a big "Yes" from as a fellow pale person myself I like to support my fellow "amoeba" race! #SeThroughPeople

AMBER ROSE: I had to google this lady and apparently she is a "Big" deal. Why? I don't know, nor do I care. All I have heard is, Amber Rose is a "Kim Kardashian-esque" style celeb......am I right? either way, I hate her attitude in this photo and am not a fan. I ain't got time for that!

LADY IN BLUE: Some Lady I don't know, but she looks lovely. She looks very pleased to be there. I feel like she turned up mega early and just hung around before the show started. I feel like she was so excited to be invited she brought her dress months before and hasn't taken it off since.

HER WITH THE FACE: Another lady I am unaware of, but her dress is very unique. Did she buy a Green dress and accidentally ruin it? Is this a rush job to fix it by grabbing a bra from the local fetish shop and pinning it together? Do I like it? Fuck yes I do!

AMY SCHO-MOOOOLER: I can't pronounce her name but I love her! She is proper funny and I love that she can turn up wearing my Mum's old carpet as a dress! We used to have this carpet/rug in our hallway. I wondered where it went....glad it got the love and recognition it deserved.

THAT GIRL FROM PITCH PERFECT: She is the girl from Pitch Perfect I fancied the most! Forget Anna Kendrick, I liked this one! She is the one who threw up all the time! The One who looks as if she is actually in her 40's rather than be in her late teens. Anyway, Dress sems lovely.....my son has a bath mat in that pattern.

CARA "The Brows" DELAVIGNE: The girl everyone loves! What is not to love about her? Apparently you can't say anything bad about her because if you did then beauty bloggers and the entire "Trendy" crowd will shave your eyebrows off!

SCARLETT JOHANSSON: I Love SCARjo but I am not feeling this 1980's jumpsuit that may have fallen off the rack off Olivia Newton John's dressing room. Her hair is too old for her, she looks too old and she doesn't look youthful at all. I am not angry....I am just disappointed.

SOMEBODY: WOW! Love this girl's style! Don't know who she is, but regardless, I love it. I want to go out to a bar and get drunk and dance away like "Thelma and Louise"........Why?.....I dunno I'm drunk!

DIVERGENT GIRL: Fuck Yeah! Love this girl! She's a proper Hippy girl who  couldn't give a shit......Plus she's tall and gorgeous! I have a bit of a crush on her simply because I feel like she could make Jennifer Lawrence fall in love with her!

JLo: Love Jennifer Lopez! The fact this lady has had several kids and still looks "This" good is amazing! Check those Legs out! I mean she is a proper beauty with legs that make you stare at them all day..................sorry what was we saying?

It's a Jlo #selfie

CHARLIE XCX: This is "THE" Outfit! I love this! Is it a Rain Mac? is it a dress? Either way I want to find out what's underneath......hang on that sounds creepy. I mean she looks great! The colours is fun and reminds me of a FAB ice lolly!

It's a Charlie XCX #Selfie
What do you think? Do you agree with my view?...Do you care? Let me know what outfits you liked.

StarWatch | Michael Keaton | #NOTlistening

by
What Happened in those 15 years Mike?

An old segment we used to do in the earlier days of the Podcast was something called "StarWatch"and it was simply this

Let's look through an Actor's IMDB and see what they have done

With the newest format of the podcast we wanted to bring this back in a more shorter, concise segment.
So many actors and actresses out there! So many films! So many people disappear into obscurity and never climb out of that "syfy" channel portal.
In Episode 164 of The #NOTlistening Podcast we looked back at Michael Keaton! Beetlejuice himself! Birdman himself! Batman himself!.......The Man who only plays characters beginning with "B".

Keaton is having a great time at the moment. in 2014/15 alone he has starred in some "Big" Box office films (Robocop, Need for Speed) regardless of whether they are good, they are still "Big" budget films.  He has also starred in an Oscar Winning Movie "Birdman" whilst winning awards left right and centre and just missing out on an Oscar. Keaton is having a resurgence.

In the Podcast we discussed his key films and found out that he spent a huge portion of the 90's and early 00's doing nothing. So.......what was he up to for a good ten years in the late 90's and early 00's?

Here are my Top 3 Keaton performances

1. Beetlejuice
Keaton spends approx 29 mins on screen as the title character if this Burton Classic.

2. Birdman
Keaton gives an Oscar worthy performance. Eddie Redmayne may have taken the award from him, but I feel Keaton's will be looked back as the better one.

3. The Other Guys - Captain Gene
Keaton is subtly brilliant in this film. The TLC lyrical loving Police chief steals the film, especially with the "silent" fight at the funeral and his whispering shouting. Genius!

We also check in on the latest seasons of The Walking Dead & House of Cards and wave a fond farewell to Parks n' Recreation. All this and more TV we haven't #NOT been watching on this week's #NOTwatching Podcast!

Also please note - we were joined by Marcus for the recording of this show, but due to technical issues his track was unusable. So apologies for the brief running time of this episodes as well as any dodgy edits - a lot of this show ended up on the cutting room floor!

Go Back and Watch This | Beetlejuice | #NOTlistening

by
A Timeless Classic

Listen or DOWNLOAD the Podcast to hear the chat!
Go Back and Watch this was a segment we used to do on the Podcast "way back when...." and after discarding it to focus on a different format, we decided to bring it back every now and now with the new format!......The Podcast likes to mix it up!

Anyway, Go Back and Watch This or #GBAWT is purely an excuse to sit down and have a quick discussion about a film we love and need to go back and revisit! Whether or not it is a film you have seen  thousand times or a film you have only seen once, it doesn't matter. It is a film we want you to go back and watch for specific reasons.

In Episode 164 of The #NOTlistening Podcast we had a quick discussion about the film "Beetlejuice" and although we spent more time discussing Michael Keaton (You can read the StarWatch Post here) we still urged you to go back and watch it.

Here are 3 reasons why you SHOULD "Go Back and Watch......Beetlejuice"

1. It's Timeless!
A Film from 1989 has never looked that dated. Purely because of the Gothic style and tone it always seemed to be set in a timeless period. Even the clothes didn't seem to out of time. The setting never looks out dated. The whole film has a timeless, almost "ahead of it's time" feel about it. The only thing that hold's it back is the use of Stop Motion....but even then it is better than some CGI I have seen recently.

2. It's a Fucking Family Film!
Apparently so! Beetlejuice is a Family Film. In the UK it has a 15 certificate but I am sure it more of a 12. The film isn't scary or gory and in polls I have seen, it ranks high in the top 50 "family" films. It's 80's "family" film genre. It sits alongside films such as Gremlins, Goonies and Stand By Me. Film's that have swearing in it, graphic scenes and elements that are aimed towards adults BUT are also family films in the sense they are now played on Channel 5 at 2pm! By taking out the few swear words, it seems to get away with being a bit tame

3. It's Fucking AWESOME!
#NuffSaid! I love this film! I consider myself  big film freak and love a variety of genres. I love artsy and pretentious films as well Romantic comedies. I put Beetlejuice in my Top 3 of all time and it will never shift! The blend of Nostalgia and a brilliant story has always stuck with me. Beetlejuice is a film that I have watched more than any other film. I know the script off by heart and I never tire of watching it.
