Love, Death & Robots, The Umbrella Academy, True Detective & more! | #NOTwatching #193

by

Game of Thrones* might be dominating the small screen right now, but there's been a lot of other great shows this year. This week, we're kicking of with David Fincher and Tim Miller's animated anthology series, Love, Death & Robots. Also on Netflix is the adaptation of Gerard Way's Umbrella Academy and Ricky Gervais' After Life, while elsewhere we have Ben Stiller's surprisingly compentent prison break drama, Escape From Dannemora and the third season of True Detective. All this and more on another TV-focussed #NOTwatching Podcast!

*We're saving our final round of Game of Thrones released coverage for a detailed spoilery chat once the final season is done, so look out for that in a month or so's time...

EGX Rezzed, BAFTAS, Stadia, Vampire Bloodlines 2, Borderlands 3 & more! | #NOTplaying #191

by

After a few lacklustre episodes (we just hadn't had time to play much of anything new - sorry!) we're making it up to you this month with an absolutely packed show. First up we have to address some recent sequel announcements of the vampiric and borderlands variety, as well as the reveal of Google's new games streaming service, Stadia. Will's been on post apocalyptic shooter duty with Far Cry New Dawn and Metro Exodus, Rob's been getting a bit miffed by the new Hearthstone expansion and Marcus has been having a party with um.... Mario Party?

And then we're off on our annual pilgrimage to London's Tobacco Dock, for EGX Rezzed where we all got to play a bunch of different things: Ape Out, Divinity Fallen Heroes, Everspace, My Friend Pedro & much much more... And all that before hobnobbing with Videogame Royalty at the BAFTA Games Awards, the winners of which, we discuss in detail here...

Happy?

Captain Marvel, Alita: Battle Angel, Green Book & more! | #NOTwatching #192

by

Ever since Thanos clicked his fingers and Nick Fury dropped that pager shortly before turning to dust, we've been wondering what role Captain Marvel would play in and/or could do to save the MCU. And while the recent trailers confirmed she would indeed play a part in Avengers: Endgame, little was known of her origin. Until now. Captain Marvel is the first fully female fronted film in the MCU canon and after easily banking a billion dollars worldwide, you have to wonder why it took them so long. Listen on, dear listener, for our thoughts on Marvel's latest, Alita: Battle Angel, Netflix's The Dirt & Triple Frontier and a bunch of movies Rob binged on during his recent flights to the USA and back.

SXSW 2019 Special - inc. Good Omens, Us & more... | #NOTwatching #191

by

It's a bit of a special one this week, since we actually had boots on the ground at this year's SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Amazon had an enormous presence at the event with their adaptation of Neil Gaiman & the late great Terry Pratchett's Good Omens. We witnessed the world premiere of Chris Morris's The Day Shall Come and while we unfortunately missed Jordan Peele's Us when we were there due to an accomodation mishap, we made sure to catch it locally before we recorded this. Enjoy!
